We are the masters of our fate; we are the captains of our soul. We can have no smaller nor greater mastery than mastery of ourselves. We are the master, we are in control, no one person has the master keys to open the inner locks except us.

He who controls others may be powerful, but he who has mastered himself is mightier still.~ Lao-tzu

I have learned that we will never have a greater nor lesser dominion than that over ourselves; that the height of our success is gauged by our self-mastery; the depth of our failure by our self-abandonment.

I have also learned that if we cannot establish dominion over ourselves, we will have no dominion over others. It is not possible to control the outside forces until we have mastered our breathing space. It is not possible to change anything until we understand the substance we wish to change.

When you fail to be your own boss, You are giving somebody else the contract. ― Richard Marcel I.

I have likewise learned, that we should not be the slaves of passion; rather, we must be the possessors of great passions. Through passion begins power, but passions should not direct our paths; rather, passions should be our controlled horses, with us leading when and where they should be directed.

Many of us, nowadays, blindly follow the notion that to be slaves to our passions is to be free! But for one to be the master of one's passions is to be not only free but powerful.

Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom; mastering others is strength; mastering yourself is true power.
