Sometimes we
can apply a great deal of control over where life is going, and other times
we get caught up in forces beyond our control. However, we can always
control the way we think and feel and respond to whatever life brings.
When
we learn to appreciate the enormous power that comes from being able to manage
anything that happens in our lives and experience how it frees us
from the grip of fear and anxiety, we easily recognize the enormous opportunities
around us.
Our most
significant opportunities will be found in times of greatest
difficulty.-Thomas S. Monson |
A person who is depressed is spending too much time thinking about
the way things are now, and not enough time thinking about how he/she wants
things to be.
It is great
when we can cause events to go our way. And yet even when things do not go as
we wish, we still have the profound and
powerful ability to uncover opportunities in anything that comes our way.
Every day, every situation, every twist and turn of this journey we call
life gives us
something valuable with which to work on.
Imagine what
would happen if instead of being upset by the disappointments, we could
choose to be encouraged by them. The absolutely wonderful fact is, we can if
we choose to. I have learned that when we have faith, every time that we
have disappointments, we could rationalize that God is preparing to give us
something better. I have learned in my own life, that sometimes removing some
things or people out of our lives makes room for better things or people.
Opportunity,
when combined with effort, brings achievement. Each moment opens up new
possibilities for creating value that can remain in our lives long after the
moment is gone. We could let this day simply pass on by, and take with it
all its valuable opportunities; or we can get busy and make something out of
those opportunities.
The
more you seek security, the less of it you have. But the more
you seek opportunity, the more likely it is that you will
achieve the security that you desire.-Brian Tracy |
Sure, we can
come up with perfectly reasonable excuses for not taking action. Yes, we can
let the disappointments and frustrations stop us; or we can choose to act on
the unique, valuable opportunities that are in front of us right now. Before
the value of this day passes us by, we can take hold of
that value and make it a permanent part of our lives.
The
opportunities right now are powerful and valuable, but only if we choose to
act on them while they are here. Let us connect solidly with our
dreams, let those dreams motivate us to take action, and make the efforts
that will bring those dreams to life.
