Each person begins his/her adult life by being clumsy at making his/her way through the myriad of things that comprise our world. And since life offers many pitfalls, traps and snares, it is guaranteed that each of us, as we travel down life’s road, will get ourselves into many uncomfortable and frustrating situations.

So it is essential to realize that a successful life is not achieved the first time out, but instead is a collection of small gains that occur over time midst some setbacks and disappointments.

Life is often not easy, but can be challenging and fun; and if we maintain a positive attitude, clearly map out our direction and try our best to make wise choices; and if we are willing to put in a decent day’s work each day, change our habits when needed and alter our thinking when it is incorrect, we will see ourselves grow and our circumstances improve; and we will find that, over time, we can make many of the gains and produce many of the results we wish for.

Sometimes life’s struggles and problems seem to outweigh its joys and pleasures, but when this is the case, be thankful that: if you feel loneliness, you know you have the capacity to give the joy of companionship to another; and if you feel trapped, you know you are not subservient, but are a proud and independent being; and if you feel pain, you know your senses have not been dulled, and you are an alive and vital person.

We should use our sad and frustrating times to prepare ourselves to better appreciate the good and beautiful things of life that will eventually come our way; and realize that if our misfortunes are undergone in the right spirit, they can do much to increase our sensitivity and understanding of life.
