Life belongs to the living, and he who lives must be prepared for changes. To be ready to fail is to be prepared for success. Preparation is the mark of a professional, an attribute of a successful person. As we move upward in any occupation, we will find that the top people spend far more time in preparation than the average individuals.

Smart people make systematic preparation for any task. When we travel, the worst thing that could happen would be for our luggage to be lost. To guard against this situation, we should carry all our essentials on board with us, never out of our sight. Beacuse of this habit of advanced planning, we could avoid having insurmountable problems because of baggage delays or losses.

Be prepared, work hard, and hope for a little luck. Recognize that the harder you work and the better prepared you are, the more luck you might have. Ed Bradley

Superior thinkers like Napoleon Bonaprte assume that the worst could happen and makes provisions against it. He once replied, when asked whether he believed in luck, that he did. He always believed that he would have it and he planned accordingly.

No matter what anyone tells them, clever people prepare for the worst. They are prepared for the possibility that something will not follow through. They are proactive, not passive. Instead of becoming angry or depressed, they get busy and get going; find an alternative and refuse to accept the current situation if it is not satisfactory. Instead of waiting for things to happen, they make things shappen.

They carefully review a checlist prior to every undertaking and never trust their memory. Failure to check just one critical detail can cause an activity to fail, can leave us to stranded, or even put our destination out of reach.

As we proceed toward our personal destinations and struggle toward our goals, the consequences of not following our checklist could cause some problems. It is not unusual for a business to go broke or a person to lose all his or her money because someone failed to pay attention to a critical detail.

Making the habit of having checklists for big and small tasks could help us be equipped and prepared for any changes that could come up. It is something we should always consider.
